Creating new WMS base layers for the map

In this map, I created a new base layer with a WMS feed of USGS topographical maps. Click the TOPO button on the map to see it.

To put wms layer in your map you can use a small javascript file developed by John Deck at Berkeley (wms236.js).

On Roadlessland.org I used Mapserver as a WMS server to create tiles from ESRI shapefiles of all the roadless areas, wilderness areas and other forest service areas. These layers float over top of all the base layers. Here is an example of how to do that.
